Work Experience

This week we had work experience for the first time. Its on every Wednesday for the next ten weeks. I went to a hairdressers for mine. It was in 'The Academy Belle' at Daybreak. It's really handy because it's only five minutes from my house.

I had to be in at 10am. When I was walking around I was a bit nervous and excited. I went in and introduced myself. The woman who owns the hairdressers is called Sandra, she is really nice. The first thing I had to do was fold all the towels and put them onto the shelf. Next I was sweeping up hair off the ground. After that I cleaned one of the shelves. It got kind of boring but I could watch the hairdressers doing peoples hair and see what it's like to work in a hairdressers.

I got a break for an hour at about 1:30pm and went home for it. When I returned I was cleaning the sinks, counters and mirrors. When I was finished it was 3:20 and I went home.
I enjoyed my first day of work experience and it went really well. The only thing I don't like is that I can't really do much more than sweep up hair and clean but I still learn alot from watching the hairdressers.

CARLINGFORD!

This week we went to Carlingford. I didn't think it would be that good but it was great and I'm glad I went. We had to be at Esso at 7am on Monday to get the bus. We were all exhausted but excited as well.
When we arrived we were put into two groups, group A and B. I was in group A. Then we picked our rooms. I was happy because I was in a room with all my friends.
We started the activities straight away. The first thing we done was water sports. We got into our wet suits and my group went rowing to a waterfall that we all had to sit under. There was a legend that if you sit under the waterfall you live an extra day but I don't think it was worth the extra day because it was freezing!
We went back and on the way we stopped at a trampoline that was in the water.
When we got back we got dressed and had lunch. The food wasn't great but we all had loads of food in our room so it was grand.
After lunch we did a combat course that was supposed to be a team building exercise but we nearly killed each other doing it.
The best part of it was when we were doing a maze in the dark and amy jackson went head first down one of the holes. It was scary at first because we thought she was gone but then we heard her laughing.
After the combat course we had dinner. Nobody liked it but I thought it was nice.
We had some free time before our next activity so we just walked around the village and bought more food.
After about two hours we walked up the mountain. When we got there we were all blindfolded and had to hold onto a rope and the person in front of us shoulder to find our way. Lots of people smacked their heads off trees and fell but eventually we got there.
When we were done group B were starting their walk up so we ran down and scared all of them.
It was dark when we were walking back. We all sang the whole way even though most of us had no voice anymore.
When we got back we were hungry again so we went to get chinese. After there was a disco and there was another girls school in there as well but they just sat around so we danced the whole time instead.
We stayed up most of the night and had to get up at about 7:30am.
After breakfast we packed and then went back out to the water. This time our group went kayaking.
On the way back we got to go on the trampoline again.
We had lunch and then done lazer tag. We had to walk back up the mountain to the same place we were for the blindfolded walk. There was two teams, blue and red. I was on the red team.
We done lazer tag for about 2 hours. It was the best part of the whole thing and i really want to do it again.
When we got back we got straight on the bus and slept the whole way home.
I was exhausted by the time we got back. It was a really fun 2 days.
